Save On Your Insurance With Daylight Savings!

Who knew you could save money when you turn your clocks forward. It’s a pretty cool concept. You gain an hour of sleep, lose some daylight and potentially save some money.

You’re probably wondering how this happens and what this has to do with insurance. Well, let me tell you.

Daylight savings occurs twice a year. This is common knowledge, except if you live in Arizona. But if I had to guess, the majority of you are from Vermont.

Daylight savings is a great opportunity to do a few things around the house to ensure you are keeping your insurance claims down!

  1. Changing the batteries/backup batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors: This is so important, especially for the safety of you and your family! Having properly working smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors can significantly decrease the severity of an insurance claim and carbon monoxide poisoning.
  2. Clean your furnace: This is a great time to check to make sure your furnace is working properly, especially since the temperatures outside are dropping pretty drastically. This will help reduce the chances of your pipes freezing or you and your family going without heat in the dead of winter.
  3. Fire Safety Plan: With the use of supplemental heat, this can increase the chance of fire in your home. It is a goo idea to develop a fire escape plan with your family and go over this during this time. This way each of your family knows the safest escape routes during a fire and where to go outside of the home to be safe.

These are just a few things you can do but they are so important! Daylight savings is about more than just turning your clocks forwards or backwards. Save yourself some money by going through these steps at the very least. We promise it will save you in the long run! Looking to save on your actual policy?
